The Mississippi Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors congratulates Cristiane (Cris) Surbeck, PE, PhD, F, EWRI, ENV SP on being named the Engineer of the Year for the Mississippi Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Dr. Surbeck is the new chair of the Civil Engineering Department at The University of Mississippi. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and she also holds a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering as well as her doctorate in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Irvine.
She is an accomplished author having published a textbook and is part of the team completing research on climate change with the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture. She was also featured earlier this year as the Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors August 2021 Engineer Spotlight. Dr. Surbeck has been licensed in Mississippi since 2012.
