Protect yourself from fraudulent engineering and land surveying services!

The Mississippi Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers & Surveyors (PEpLS) would like to make the public aware of instances of fraudulent engineering and land surveying services being offered through online freelance and marketplace websites such as Fiverr, Upwork, or similar entities.  Sometimes the services being offered include promises to provide “signed and sealed” documents.  Similarly, a document may be provided which includes the name, license number, seal, or signature of a legitimate professional without that professional's knowledge or involvement.  In some instances, these services may be offered by individuals and / or firms who are not licensed to practice these services in the State of Mississippi.

Only actively licensed engineers or surveyors can sign and seal documents.

To that end, the Board would like to encourage you to always check the credentials of anyone offering to provide engineering and /or surveying services and to avoidLicensee search icon paying in advance for theses services or without a signed contract or engagement letter.

You can check the license status of those actively licensed to practice engineering and surveying in Mississippi by first completing a licensee search for those individuals or firms.

On our website homepage, look for the Licensee search logo to begin your search.  You can find a step by step guide to completing a licensee search at this link.
